Fisk & Co. Chicago
A couple of weeks ago I left the bitter cold of Toronto, for the similar cold of Chicago! In truth I headed to the Windy City to see Hamilton. I couldn’t wait another year for it to come here to Toronto!
Fitzgerald enjoying the view at the Kimpton Monaco in Chicago!
While we were there I stumbled onto my new favourite restaurant in Chicago. Fisk & Co. It was conveniently located in the lobby of the Kimpton Monaco where I was staying (you don’t know me well enough yet - but when I’m traveling I am almost always looking to stay in a Kimpton hotel! They are amazing, and bonus they allow me to bring my tiny dog on my adventures)
We headed to the bar on the promise of $1 Oysters for happy hour (another thing you will learn I am a huge fan of!)
We were a bit early so we started with a cocktail.
This is the Cuberdon Club (Botanist gin, imbue ‘petal & thorn’vermouth, lemon, raspberry, egg white, peychaud’s bitters) - so pretty and so delicious!
Finally 4pm rolled around and along with the $1 oysters a new seasonal cocktail that changes day to day - so I paired my oysters with a lovely Violette Gin Martini.
The oysters were super fresh and delicious - and an excuse to have some of the ridiculously good house made hot sauce!
We befriended our lovely bartender Megan and she convinced us to try a local liquor called Malort, which has a sharp herbal flavour. It reminded me a bit of Fernet Branca, though my dinning companion says he’d take Malort of Fernet any day.
We had to head out to make our show, but the smells coming from the dining room confirmed we would be back. So our lunch plans for the next day were locked in.
There is an awesome Prix Fix Lunch special, with perhaps the greatest mushroom soup I’ve ever had (no photos as it was demolished quickly upon arrival) Everything here is so good we had to convince ourselves to go somewhere else for dinner!
